This policy explains what data we collect (very little), how we use it, and your rights under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Our Privacy Promise
UK Take-Home Pay Calculator is operated by UK Calculator Matrix, an independent project based in the United Kingdom. We are not affiliated with HMRC, the Student Loans Company, or any government body.
For privacy enquiries, contact us via the feedback page.
We collect minimal information. The types of data we may process are:
We do not collect: your salary, tax code, pension details, student loan plan, National Insurance number, date of birth, or any other financial information you enter into the calculator.
This is our most important privacy commitment. The calculator is a client-side application — all computation runs in your web browser using JavaScript. When you enter your salary, student loan plan, pension contributions, or any other figure:
You can verify this by inspecting your browser's network requests (DevTools → Network) while using the calculator. You will see no outbound data requests triggered by your inputs.
We use a minimal cookie footprint:
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party marketing cookies of any kind. You can disable cookies in your browser settings without affecting the calculator's functionality.
We use privacy-focused, anonymised analytics to understand how people use the site — for example, which pages are visited most often and what devices are commonly used. This data helps us improve the calculator.
Our analytics provider is configured to: anonymise IP addresses before storage, not use cross-site tracking, not share data with advertising networks, and retain data for a maximum of 14 months before deletion.
Aggregate analytics data cannot be used to identify individual visitors.
The following third-party services are used to deliver the website. Each has its own privacy policy:
We do not embed social media widgets, advertising networks, or cross-site tracking scripts.
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:
Given that we collect very little personal data and none of it relates to your calculator inputs, most rights requests will result in confirmation that we hold no relevant personal data. To exercise any right, contact us via the feedback page.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
We retain data only as long as necessary:
The website is served exclusively over HTTPS with TLS encryption. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect against unauthorised access. However, no internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
This website is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this privacy policy periodically — for example, when tax year changes affect our third-party service usage or when new legal requirements apply. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
Material changes will be noted on the homepage for 30 days after publication.
For any privacy-related questions, data subject access requests, or concerns, please use our feedback form. We aim to respond to all enquiries within 30 days.
